We’re pleased to announce that we have confirmed Yvanna Mycyk as our adjudicator for the 2017 Strings Festival. Please see her biography below.
The Festival will take place on Monday, February 13th and Tuesday, February 14th. The Celebration recital will be on Friday, February 17th at 7:00 PM. All events will be at Mount Olive Lutheran Church.
Yvanna Mycyk
Yvanna Mycyk has recently come from Toronto Ontario where she was the Conductor of the Moordale Youth Orchestra, and she is now leading the Intermediate Strings for the Richmond Delta Youth Orchestra. She has also conducted the Junior Orchestra at the Sistema Toronto Academy where she taught violin and viola, and the string orchestras of Havergal College Junior School.
Yvanna completed her undergraduate degree in Violin Performance at Boston University, studying with Yuri Mazurkevich and Gwen Thompson and studying violin pedagogy with Bonnie Black. She recently graduated from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto with a specialization is music education. Belonging to one or more orchestras has been a constant in Yvanna’s life since the age of 11. Her husband, composer/conductor William Rowson, is the Assistant Conductor of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
